Last time, Rouen burned. This time, the city is rolling out the red carpet.

In the spring of 841, longships appeared in the meanders of the Seine and raided Rouen — the start of a century of incursions that gave birth, in 911, to Normandy itself, granted to the Viking chief Rollo.
In 2027, history winks back: a fleet of about 40 Viking ships from Norway and Denmark will sail up the Seine for the Armada de Rouen, moored on the left bank at Saint-Sever, facing the tall ships. The occasion: the millennium of William the Conqueror, Rollo's direct descendant.
Like the whole event (17–27 June 2027), access to the Viking fleet will be free. Our full guide: the Viking fleet of the Armada 2027.
