Rebuilt after the war by architect Auguste Perret, Le Havre's luminous, geometric city centre is a UNESCO World Heritage site — unlike anywhere else in France. Add a long pebble beach, a buzzing port and a great art museum, and it's a rewarding day out about an hour from Rouen.
