The Armada draws millions of visitors to a mid-sized city over ten days, and Rouen simply doesn't have enough rooms to go round. Hotels fill up months in advance, the best-value places go first, and prices climb steadily as June 2027 approaches. Every previous edition has followed the same pattern, and demand for 2027 is expected to be high.
The good news: everything else about your trip is flexible. You can decide later which ships to see, when to take a cruise, or where to eat. Rouen is compact and walkable, so almost anywhere central works — but each area has its own character and trade-offs.
The historic heart of Rouen, with its half-timbered houses, the cathedral, the Gros-Horloge and the cobbled pedestrian streets. Staying here puts you walking distance from the quays and the whole festival, so you can drop your bags and dive straight in — and slip back for a rest whenever you like. It's the most convenient (and most sought-after) base, so it books up first and commands the highest prices. If atmosphere and zero transport hassle matter most, this is the spot.
If you're arriving by train from Paris, a hotel near Rouen Rive Droite station is hard to beat for convenience: step off the train, drop your bags, and you're a short walk or quick metro ride from both the old town and the quays. It's also handy for day trips by rail. A practical, well-connected choice.
Across the river and a little further out, you'll often find better value and more availability, with the metro and buses to bring you back to the quays in minutes. If you're happy with a short ride in exchange for a lower rate — or you're booking late and the centre is full — this is a smart move. The recently revamped left-bank quays are pleasant in their own right.

Expect central hotels to charge a premium versus a normal June, and the cheapest options to disappear first. Six months out, it's time to act decisively; the best-value places will already be thinning out. Within a few months of the event, expect the centre to be largely gone, higher prices on what remains, and your best options to be apartments, the outskirts, or the nearby towns mentioned above. Whatever the timing, booking something refundable today beats hoping for a miracle later.
The closing Sunday — the Grande Parade — is the grand finale and the single busiest day of the whole event. If you want to be there for it, book the Saturday and Sunday nights early, as they're in highest demand. An alternative worth considering: stay downstream, near one of the parade viewpoints like La Bouille, Duclair or Jumièges, so you wake up where the ships will pass and skip the rush out of the city. Either way, plan your travel home for late Sunday or Monday, when everyone leaves at once.
