✅ Long, bright evenings — plenty of daylight for the old town after a day's sightseeing.
⚠️ Changeable — Normandy showers can appear with little warning, even on an otherwise sunny day.
⚠️ Evenings can be cool — a jacket is essential after sunset, especially near the river.
May is an excellent month to explore Rouen's old town at a relaxed pace, before the Armada 2027 crowds arrive in June. It's also a great time for a day trip to Giverny, where Monet's gardens are bursting with tulips and early irises. Pair a morning at the cathedral with an afternoon along the Seine quays while the weather is calm.
