June in Normandy is unpredictable — expect sun, cloud, a cool breeze off the Seine, and the occasional shower. Layers are your friend.

• ☐ Comfortable walking shoes — Cobblestones and quays await. You will walk 10-15 km a day easily.
• ☐ Light jacket or fleece — Evenings by the river get chilly, especially in mid-June.
• ☐ Rain jacket or compact umbrella — A passing shower is always possible.
• ☐ Sunglasses & sun hat — The quays are exposed and the sun can be strong.
• ☐ Daypack — Light enough to carry all day with water, snacks and a layer.
• ☐ Reusable water bottle — Stay hydrated on the quays. Public fountains are available.
• ☐ Camera or phone with good zoom — The ships are photogenic from every angle.
• ☐ Power bank — You'll be out all day and phone battery will drain fast with maps and photos.
• ☐ Sun protection (SPF 30+) — The sun reflects off the water and the quay surfaces.

💰 Estimated budget

Here's a rough guide per person per day. The Armada itself is free — your main costs are travel, accommodation and food.

Tip: If you're visiting for 2–3 nights from Paris with a mid-range budget, expect to spend roughly €400–€600 per person all-in (accommodation, train, meals and one cruise).

💡 Practical tips

• Pack light and bring a daypack — The quays are crowded and you don't want to carry heavy luggage through the festival site.
• Arrive early — The quays are calmest before 10 am. You'll see the ships in good light and beat the queues to board.
• Plan your Grande Parade exit strategy — Roads close hours before the parade starts. Know your parking and viewpoint in advance.
• Book refundable/cancellable where possible — Plans change. Free cancellation gives you flexibility if the weather or schedule shifts.
• Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper — Evening concerts and fireworks go late, and central hotels can be noisy.
• Learn a few French phrases — A simple "bonjour" and "merci" go a long way with locals and market vendors.
