Where to get the best shots of the tall ships, the fireworks and the Grande Parade during the Armada 2027.
By Armada Rouen Visitor Guide · Updated 30 June 2026
Walk the right-bank quays where the tall ships are moored. You get masts, rigging and hulls at close range — best at golden hour, early in the morning before the crowds build.
The Seine bridges around the Pont Flaubert give you elevated, wide-angle views of the whole fleet lined along the river.
Climb to the Côte Sainte-Catherine viewpoint for the classic panorama — the bend of the Seine, the ships and Rouen's cathedral in a single frame.
A Seine cruise puts you right alongside the hulls — the only way to shoot the ships from the river itself.
In 2027, around forty Viking ships moor on the left bank (the Saint-Sever side) for the millennium of William the Conqueror — a subject you won't find anywhere else.
On the final Sunday the ships sail downstream to the estuary. Strong vantage points: the Pont Flaubert, La Bouille, Sahurs, Duclair, Jumièges, and further down towards Honfleur and Le Havre.
Every evening brings fireworks and a roughly 1,000-drone show over the Seine — bring a tripod and try a long exposure from the quays or a bridge.
Quick tips: shoot at golden hour, pack a wide lens for the masts, arrive early, and save the final Sunday for ships under sail.
