Rouen's most photographed landmark: a golden Renaissance clock spanning the street, in the heart of the old town.
The Gros-Horloge is a magnificent astronomical clock set into a Renaissance arch straddling the pedestrian street that bears its name. Its movement is one of the oldest in France, and the gilded face — showing the time, the phases of the moon and the days of the week — is pure old-Rouen magic.
It's a two-minute walk from the cathedral and an easy hop from the quays — exactly the kind of stop a guided walking tour or our private experiences build around.
