The first ten tall ships for Armada 2027 have been officially confirmed — from France's beloved Belem to the 98-metre Norwegian giant Statsraad Lehmkuhl. Here's every ship named so far, with specs, flags, and how to see them on the Rouen quays this June.
At its press conference on 19 June 2026, the Armada organising association (L'Armada de la Liberté) unveiled the first ten vessels signed for the 9th edition of the world's largest gathering of tall ships, running 17–27 June 2027 on the Seine quays of Rouen. Around 40 ships in total are expected — about fifteen are already firmly contracted — so this first list is your best preview of what the fleet will look like. (Read our full breakdown of the 2027 announcements.)
Here is every vessel named so far, with its type, flag and length as announced:
| Ship | Type | Flag | Length |
|---|---|---|---|
| Statsraad Lehmkuhl | Three-masted barque (1914) | 🇳🇴 Norway | 98 m |
| Gulden Leeuw | Three-masted barkentine | 🇳🇱 Netherlands | 70 m |
| Santa Maria Manuela | Four-masted schooner | 🇵🇹 Portugal | 69 m |
| Eendracht | Brigantine / schooner | 🇳🇱 Netherlands | 59 m |
| Le Français | Three-masted barque | 🇫🇷 France | 47 m |
| Étoile du Roy | Frigate replica (1740s) | 🇫🇷 France | 46 m |
| Thalassa | Three-masted barque | 🇳🇱 Netherlands | 45 m |
| La Recouvrance | Goélette / Aviso replica | 🇫🇷 France | 42 m |
| Belem | Three-masted barque (1896) | 🇫🇷 France | 51 m |
| Vera Cruz | Caravel | 🇵🇹 Portugal | 24 m |
That gives the 2027 fleet an initial line-up dominated by France, the Netherlands and Portugal — a mix that should grow as more names are confirmed through late 2026 and early 2027.
Not all ships are equal when it comes to wow-factor. Make a point of finding these three:
If you have limited time — or are visiting Rouen on a day trip — prioritise these three and the drakkars below.
Two headline vessels are expected but not yet formally signed, and both are worth watching in the coming months:
Watch the official armada.org announcements and we'll update our blog the moment either is confirmed.
This is the part most first-timers don't realise: daytime ship visits are free. During the festival, when the shore crews open the gangways (typically 10:00–19:00, exact times per ship), anyone can walk aboard, explore the decks, and chat with the multinational crews. No ticket, no reservation — just join the queue.
A feature unique to the 2027 edition, the Armada is staging an exceptional gathering of around 40 Viking drakkars and historic boats to celebrate the Millénium — Année Européenne des Normands (1,000 years of Norman history). The historic Scandinavian vessels will sail from the Dives and Seine estuaries up the river to Rouen, docking on the left bank from 19 June 2027.
Boat historians should not miss this. It's the largest collection of authentic drakkar-style craft ever assembled at the Armada, and it means every day at the quays offers both modern square-riggers and medieval-replica longships. See our dedicated Viking ships guide for the full story.
A 40-ship fleet is spread over several kilometres of quays on both banks of the Seine. A little strategy goes a long way:
Ships confirmed in the initial line-up
Ships expected in total for June 2027
Longest vessel so far — Statsraad Lehmkuhl
Visitors expected across the 10 days
The ship list will grow steadily between now and the festival. Bookmark our blog and join the free list below to get each confirmation the moment it drops.
