~30 free shows across 19 towns and villages — theatre, circus, dance, live music and street art, every weekend from 3 July to 23 August 2026. Here's everything you need to know.
Jours de Fête — "Days of Celebration" — is the flagship summer festival of the Métropole Rouen Normandie. Now in its 20th season, it brings nearly 30 free performances to public spaces across the metropolitan area, from Rouen's cathedral square to village parks in Bois-Guillaume, Sahurs and Le Grand-Quevilly. Theatre, contemporary circus, dance, live orchestral music, street art and interactive installations — all outdoors, all free, and all happening right now.
This year's edition runs from 3 July to 23 August 2026 (weekends only). We're just past the halfway point, with plenty of shows still to come including performances by the Orchestre de l'Opéra Normandie Rouen, the Bruno Bayeux company's "Le Village des Amorphes", and the last-ever edition of artworks at the Forêt Monumentale art trail.
Launched in 2007, Jours de Fête is the summer performing-arts season of the Métropole Rouen Normandie. It's produced in close collaboration with Atelier 231, one of France's 13 national centres for street arts and public spaces (CNAREP), located in Sotteville-lès-Rouen. The result is a programme that punches well above its free-admission weight class — expect bold contemporary creations alongside accessible family shows.
Genres you'll encounter across the season:
The festival also benefits from the ReNAR network (Réseau Normand des Arts de la Rue), which brings together 15 festival partners running free summer seasons across Normandy.

While the full detailed schedule is released in stages by the Métropole, here are the confirmed headliners and standout productions for the 2026 season:
The region's premier orchestra performs in unexpected open-air venues — think chamber music in a village square or a brass ensemble in a park. Dates and venues announced on the Métropole website as the season progresses.
A whimsical, immersive street-theatre piece where the inhabitants of a strangely sluggish village interact with the audience. Expect gentle comedy, physical theatre and a good dose of absurdity. Suitable for all ages.
Choreographer Emmanuelle Vo-Dinh presents a series of experimental dance performances across the metropolitan area as part of an artistic residency. These are intimate, site-specific works that respond to the architecture and atmosphere of each location.
This is the last summer for the Forêt Monumentale art trail in the Roumare state forest. Now in its second edition, the 4 km trail features 13 large-scale works by artists, architects and designers from around the world. Jours de Fête activities are programmed in the forest on select weekends. If you haven't seen it yet, this is your last chance — the installation closes permanently after this season.
Throughout August, the Parc-Canal Camille-Claudel (left bank, Rouen) comes alive with nautical activities, family entertainment and performances as part of the extended summer programme. Kayaking, paddleboarding and rowing are offered alongside shows — a perfect combination for a summer afternoon.
Jours de Fête travels across 19 municipalities in the Métropole Rouen Normandie. In Rouen itself, the main venues include:
Beyond Rouen, shows spread across:
Each municipality hosts one or more performances on weekends, turning village squares, parks and gardens into ephemeral open-air stages.
All shows are completely free and open access. No reservation required. Just show up and find a spot — bring a picnic blanket or a foldable chair for comfort.
The full programme is published on the Métropole website. Shows typically run in the late afternoon and early evening (16:00–20:00).
Rouen venues are walkable from the city centre. For shows in other municipalities, the TEOR bus network and TER Normandie trains connect most locations. Allow 20–40 minutes from central Rouen.
Most shows go ahead in light rain. In case of storms, check the Métropole website or social media for cancellations. Some performances move to indoor venues when possible.
Jours de Fête is part of a rich tapestry of free summer events in Rouen. Make a day of it:
If you're visiting Rouen ahead of the Armada 2027 (17–27 June) — or even if you just happen to be in town this summer — Jours de Fête gives you a taste of what makes this city special. The same quays, squares and parks that will host millions during the tall ships festival are transformed into stages for artists and audiences to connect. It's the same Rouen energy, just scaled down and spread across the summer.
For families, the free, no-reservation format means you can wander in, watch 20 minutes of circus, stroll to the next square for a dance performance, and grab an ice-cream in between. No pressure, no planning — just serendipitous summer fun.
